[comments]::1)The Korean translators should take note of the variety of expository tools as we see them in the authors of the English language countries. The Western authors enjoy the luxury of their prosperous civilization. In other words, they employ various tools, kits, means and methods of livelihood to make their readership understood in what they are stating.


2)As a logical result, Korean translators, fresh from the college in which he or she majored in English and its peripheral subjects, will find himself or herself swamped, as he or she happens to "translate" English works, in the strange tools, kits and jargons, which are entered in the dictionary but hard to decipher. For they are not the ordinary words but the contents of a specific civilization.


3)The translator has got it wrong. Utterly wrong in that he mistook the meaning of the phrase {{...hinge on plumbing the depths of their databases}} to mean {{...depend on making the enemy's databases useless.}} If you grasped the meaning of the phrase in question that way, you would commit the contradiction of tautology. (Your destruction of the enemy's information bases amounts to your winning the war.)


4)The phrase {{plumbing the depths of databases}} is an emphasis. "The plural expression {{the depths of databases}} puts a stress on the behavior of plumbing, which has been euphemistically used to mean 'search.' So {{plumbing the depths of databases}} can be superceded by {{search the enemy's information to the very bottom of databases.}}
