The north is an upper region which is situated above, upward and upstairs. The north is the top of a mountain and the roof of a dwelling. The river flows from the north to the south.
The north is heavy because the north is where gravity works. It inclines, it presses, it pushes and it dominates. "The king sits at the north and faces the south." (The Story of the Three Kingdoms) The north (The leader) should be just, righteous and merciful, or the south (the ruled) is running wild on the verge of anarchy.
If the stomach of the north (the ruler) is full, that of the south (the people) is empty. When tadpole-bellied Kim Jong Il savors gourmets of the world, nestled deep at the Palace of the People, his people of DPRK groans with the pain of starvation.
Unless the north (the upper body) keeps light, the south (the lower body) is heavy with its burden, with their painful legs with arthritis trudging along. Unless the north (the ruler) keeps cool, the south (the ruled) turns rabid with fright and disorientation.
